Previous owners left behind a brass touch lamp that has attractive lines, but brass will not match our d茅cor. If we spray paint it, will the touch part still work? I tried Google, and the only related entry I found gave no definitive answer. I want to paint it black. Has anyone tried this?
(I realize we could just experiment since it was a freebie, but if I can find out for sure it won鈥檛 work we鈥檒l just use it in my husband鈥檚 office where I don鈥檛 have to see it.)Will touch lamp still work if spray painted?
it will not because in a touch lamp the reason it changes when you touch it is you are the ground to the metal. the electronics senses the touch to the metal. if you paint it you will not be touching the metal directly. leave a spot on the back or on the shade unpainted and you can touch it in that spotWill touch lamp still work if spray painted?
Not sure.
You could A) buy one at like goodwill and test it out. or B) just do it and see what happens or C) just give it to your husband.
If you really really like it try A first. If it's not that big of a deal just give it to your husband. Really no point in ruining a good lamp if it works good.

Thats a NO! But what you can do is paint the lamp and leave a small part (say 1 inch circle) ';unpainted'; like on the back of the lamp were you guest cant see and just touch there to turn the lamp on!
I guess it depends on how the lamp is made. I have spray painted one and it did work. I guess it also depends on the type of paint you use.
