Spray painting over painted mdf?

I have an armoire in my son's room - its mdf that's already painted white. We want to paint it a darker color - greens or blues. Is there any special prep? Do we need to sand it and/or prime it again?

yes, you should sand off any gloss with 220 grit paper and prime before painting. the new paint will adhere much better to primer than the existing paint.
