Spray paint on acrylic?

i prepared a canvas with acrylic no.1 and AVC, or sth like that, (1/2 of AVC than the acrylic) on a regular fabric. i was gonna make a stencil with spray paint on the canvas but don't know if it'll hold, how many layers of spray paint should i lay down or what kind of spray paint should i use.Spray paint on acrylic?
If you go to a store that sells car spray paint, that should be acrylic, it'll say on the can somewhere, but I've never bough car paint that isn't.


Because it's acrylic It'll hold fine, you'll have to use your judgement on how much, but spray light coats and err towards a lighter coat.





Something that really helps with stencils is; spray the side that goes against the canvas with a spray glue called spray mount. This is only lightly sticky but will stop spray paint going under the stencil and stop the stencil moving whilst you spray, you'll get a great clean finish
