Its safe, people do it all the time to their t-shirts and jeans. If you don't feel comfortable using actually spray paint you can use tye dyeing colors and use a spray bottle.

Spray paint and shoes?
I'm trying to paint an old pair of converse and i'm into spray painting so I thought I would combine the 2. I was just wondering if using conventional spray paint would slowly poison you or it would be safe after the odor goes away in a week or any other ideas.Spray paint and shoes?
