Spray painted wood fireplace?

i recently spray painted my wood fireplace flue because we didnt like the colou.. so we spray painted over the other colour with normal black spray paint , and now when it is on and running it is releasing an odour .. why ? could this be from the paint ? plus will it eventually go .. its been a week ! and its still releasing odour!Spray painted wood fireplace?
The flues are not meant to be painted..this is where alot of the heat is.... They fake a heat resistant spray paint for bbq grills..I would have at least used this..and yes it is the paint that you are smelling..it will probably smell untill the heat finally makes it all peel off...You are smelling the same smell you do when you fire up a new bbq grill for the first time..
