Can you spray paint over old paint? (on wood?)?

Two years ago I painted my bathroom wood cabinets a light color. Someone told me a month ago that they make spray paints in wood colors (cherry, walnut, etc) Do I have to remove the old paint or can I just spray over it? (It doesn't have to look perfect, it is just the bathroom)Can you spray paint over old paint? (on wood?)?
Yes you can direct spray over,

but for best result please use paint remover to remove old paint,

re finish with wood filler and burnish again

then spray the new one.

good luck !Can you spray paint over old paint? (on wood?)?
You would have to sand it down, the spray that whomever referred to is a wood stain / finish. I've seen it, I've used it, but it will only work if its on raw wood. You can also use paint stripper, which also works really well if you don't want to sand.
You would need to sand it down and respray.

Give them a phone call they will help you with exactly what you need and make sure you do everything right with no problems or extra expenses.
If your not worried about the look, use a spray primer to prevent bleed through first. Then apply a coat of of your different color choice.
