Can u spray paint a bmx bike chain?

Yes.....but like he said, it's not a great idea. If you want to do it, remove the chain and clean it completely with a strong solvent that won't leave a residue behind. Spray the chain, work the links by hand when the paint is dry, and then ride the bike until whatever paint is going to break free and chip falls off. Next, clean the gears, rinse and lube the chain. Some of the paint will stay on the sideplates but most of it will wear off. It may look like crap, and it may create sticky links at first, causing your chain to skip or fall off. That should go away, and you can lube the chain like normal.

I've seen people do this and I don't know why, but have a go at it if you want. They do make colored chains that look proper, if you want to buy one. Wipperman and Shadow come to mind. Can u spray paint a bmx bike chain?
You must have seen one of those colored BMX chains.

The deal is, that's not paint. It's powdercoated.

And only the side plates of the links can be colored.

Paint will wear off. Buy a colored BMX chain if that's what you want. Can u spray paint a bmx bike chain?
It's not reccommended. I did it once as a kid and my chain looked horrible after a few hours out riding.
Hi,

you can, but:

- the paint won't stay on for long

- long term, you will damage the drive train, which needs proper lubrication.
